Rubber Isolation Bearings

Elastomeric Isolation Bearings

Elastomeric bearings can be made from a variety of materials and are very effective against most medium to high frequency vibration sources. The material choice depends on the environment, but natural rubber is the most common choice due to its low dynamic stiffness.

Bearings can be designed to provide low natural frequencies, as low as 4-5Hz if necessary. The nature of the vibration source and the level of isolation will determine what natural frequency is appropriate. This and a number of other factors drive the bearing design.

Bearing Design

There are many factors to consider when designing a bearing and Mason UK are used to working closely with the project architects and structural engineers as it important to integrate the bearings correctly in the structure. Sufficient space needs to be allocated for the bearing and the bearing needs to be designed to accept the various load conditions the building will impart over its lifetime.

We design our bearings to last the life of the building. Our elastomers are independently assessed for longevity against suitable structural standards. We design our bearings to function with consistent performance without the need for any inspection or maintenance.

Designed and built by Mason

All bearings are manufactured in our own factories so we can carefully control quality and testing. Whatever the bearing requirement, our in-house engineering team can design the best possible solution.
